Maintenance Kit Application Guide
Proper maintenance is key in providing a continuous protective layer and vibrant appearance to your board. Copper Lane Homestead has put together maintenance kits to achieve this. Kits can be found and purchased in our store.
Follow these guidelines for best maintenance of your wooden culinary items.
Step by step guide:
1- Using a clean cloth (or your hands!), Apply a liberal amount of your Copper Lane Homestead Mineral oil (Clear bottle) over the entire board.
2- Allow Mineral Oil blend to absorb overnight (or appx. 12 hours)
3- Wipe off any excess oil if necessary.
4- Apply Copper Lane Homestead Board Butter (Mineral oil, Beeswax, and Vitamin E) using the microfibre applicator cloth provided.
5- Allow minimum of 4 hours before buffing out any excess board butter.
Key tips:
- The longer you allow either product to absorb the better!
- The surface gets used and cleaned the most, therefore it may only be necessary to treat the surface more often then the entire board.
- The more you keep up with applying the maintenance kit the less product you will need to use each time.
- If the wood looks “dried out” it is time (or past time) to maintain your item
It is recommended to repeat this process as follows:
- 2-3 complete applications before using a new board
- Once to twice a week for a month
- Once a month for ongoing care or as needed*
